Avicennia marina, known as the black mangrove, prefers to live in intertidal areas near the coast. Some of its living conditions include low elevation, slightly acidic to neutral soil pH (pH 6-8), and the ability to withstand tidal conditions and saltwater. Sufficient rainfall and moderate water salinity also support the growth of this mangrove. Avicennia marina mangroves are typically found in tropical and subtropical regions, where these conditions are more common (Kusmana et al. 2008)
